Total Drama Dungeon!
Television, literally “remote viewing”, is one of the core developments of the Collegium of Technology. Like other applications of this modern arcanum, it relies on simple enchantments that can be produced in mass, combined with natural and mechanical devices to enhance the practical effect. In television, the enchantment is a simple scrying technique to attune a small glass sphere receiver to be able to view and hear what is displayed by a fixed number of similarly enchanted broadcasters. Glass lenses and an amplifying horn are used to magnify the sights and sounds. The resulting device is simple enough to be enchanted by an apprentice while the mechanical accessories can be created by normal craftsmen. While the earliest versions of this technology allowed only limited voice communication, modern televisions can deliver a breathtaking visual and audio experience.
Television, like radio and the printing press before it, has dramatically shaped the culture of the Empire. Where previously it had been difficult to spread controlled information over a wide area, and regional differences tended to make administering a large territory difficult, the wide spread and central control of television is perfectly suited for delivering uniform messages to a massive audience. After a generation of receiving the same news, education and cultural broadcasts, regional squabbles within the Empire are at their lowest point in history. Additionally, television allows for significant and culturally unifying events, such as festivals and The Games, to be shared with the widest audience for a minimum of expense.
